Marjoram grows naturally in the Mediterranean (Italy and Greece) and was known to be used to preserve foods in the Middle Ages. It was also used as a disinfectant during that time as well. It is also thought to be used over the doors during the original Passover, although that is speculation and not fact.

         Marjoram is a tender and perennial herb and about 60 cm height, which has a hairy stem, dark green leaves (more similar to oval shape) and tiny white and pink flowers. It is originated from Mediterranean Region and the word Origanum is from Greek word Orosganos which means joy of mountain. This is a popular herb in Grrek and used mainly in medicines and perfumes.
